Wahyu, New Beginnings
BRAND PARTNER: Gypsied
The Wahyu Tumurun dates back to the 1400s in the courts of the royal Javanese palace. Often worn during marriage ceremonies, the Wahyu Tumurun is a representation of blessing, mercy and grace. Wahyu, meaning inspiration, is a promise of harmonious new beginnings for newlyweds, or any new milestones in this life.
Cracks occur naturally in the wax during the dye process. This creates faint vein-like lines on the background, adding a layer of depth and texture to the batik work of art.
Time taken to make: 2 months
The remarkable colours of this batik draw one’s attention to its exquisite detail. A green in a shade of rustic olive is naturally acquired from mango leaves. A white backdrop in batik is rare. The consistency in colour makes this an exquisite piece.
