BRAND PARTNER: Scéona
Salouen is inspired by the work of the Iranian artist Shirin Abedinirad. Her mirrors, buried in the sand, are reflecting the sky which appears and disappears following the wind.
A wavy fine plate of gold is playing with light while the diamonds invariably glow.
Salouen is a mirror directed towards nature showing us a picture combining the sky and the earth.
Materials Scéona uses 18k recycled gold for their pieces, reducing the amount of waste discarded while circumventing the need to contribute to gold mining. They also use lab-grown diamonds instead of mined diamonds, reducing the carbon footprint of each carat by 5.4 times.
Packaging Scéona is committed to avoid single-use plastic packaging. Their jewellery boxes are made from a solid piece of wood, sourced from sustainable forests, with their packaging partner ensuring that the balance and biodiversity of the surrounding area are maintained. Their shipping boxes are made from recycled cardboard, customised for each order to avoid material waste.
By using recycled gold and lab-grown diamonds, Scéona does not contribute to the mining industry and the associated human rights abuses.
All pieces are designed in Singapore and crafted in India by artisans at a partner company that pays fair wages, executes ethical practices, and ensures the safety of its employees. The company, founded in 1917, is ISO certified, and also has a charity arm: every purchase you make helps providing drinking water and education to the children of financially disadvantaged communities in Jaipur.
