This novelty colour-way for our ELI kaftan top is crafted in a 100% cotton hand-dyed using artisanal shibori techniques in natural madder root, ethically sourced from Living Blue . Made via the Nui stitch-resist method, each print and mark is a unique one-off, no two are the same. “Chance and accident also give life to the shibori process, and this contributes to its special magic and strongest appeal.” -World Shibori Network
Living Blue is a Bangladesh-based social enterprise that supports local artisans, with over a decade of experience working with natural indigo, madder, myrobalan fruit, pomegranate shell, eucalyptus leaf, onion skin, banana flower and betel nut.

Fabrics & dyes Su by Hand creates their collections from deadstock or premium natural fibres, e.g. silk. Many pieces are hand-dyed using natural plant dyes and embellished with artisanal techniques. At Su by Hand, every garment is elevated to a piece of art - something precious, something we can have an emotive connection with.
Most of the pieces in the FRAGMENTS MAKE ONE WHOLE collection were made in the production atelier operated by Lok Kwan Social Enterprise in Hong Kong. Many of the pieces from the Reveal/Conceal collection are crafted from materials ethically sourced from Living Blue, a Bangladesh-based social enterprise that supports local artisans, with over a decade of experience working with natural plant dyes.
